Câmpulung is a municipality located in the south centre of Romania, in Arges County.
According to the Local Roma Expert, there are approximately 3 000 Roma living in Câmpulung.
There are 3 large Roma communities:
- Str. Traian – Plaforma Uzinei ARO – with 60% of the inhabitants being Roma and faced with , illegal housing problems issues and no (legal) electricity.
- Rotunda –segregated area
- Aleea Pescareasa (Cartier Gradiste, Drumul Godeni) – compact traditional community faced with issues such as lack of property documents; early marriages; school dropout.
All 3 communities are facing lack of property documents, lack of access to utilities,
low access on labor market, low income, low level of education, domestic violence, addictions, parents abroad and children left behind.
ROMACT Process started in March 2021 with the signature of the Letter of Agreement.
The Taskforce for Roma inclusion was created following Local Council's decision in July 2022.
