Călinești is a municipality located in Argeș County, a hundred kilometers away from Bucharest.
It is composed of twelve villages: Călinești, Ciocănești, Cârstieni, Glodu, Gorganu, Radu Negru, Râncăciov, Udeni-Zăvoi, Urlucea, Valea Corbului, Văleni-Podgoria and Vrănești.
20% of the population is at risk of poverty.
According to municipality estimates, 1 250 Roma are living in Călinești, mainly in Valea Corbului.
The main challenges of this Rudari Roma community are the lack of housing documents, the absence of sewage system, a limited access to electricity, but also the low level of school attendance, unemployment, an important migration rate with children left behind and early marriages.
ROMACT Process started in January 2021 with the signature of the Letter of Agreement.
The Taskforce for Roma inclusion was created following Local Council's decision in March 2022.
