Călinești is a municipality located in Argeș County, a hundred kilometers away from Bucharest.
It is composed of twelve villages: Călinești, Ciocănești, Cârstieni, Glodu, Gorganu, Radu Negru, Râncăciov, Udeni-Zăvoi, Urlucea, Valea Corbului, Văleni-Podgoria and Vrănești.

According to municipality estimates, 1 250 Roma are living in Călinești, mainly in Valea Corbului.

The main challenges of the community in that village are the lack of housing documents, the presence of an electricty network over the area,  but also the low level of school attendance, unemployment, an important migration rate with children left behind and early marriages.
