Stefanesti town is situated in Arges County, in Southern Romania, 100 km from Bucharest. It gathers Stefanesti, Enculesti, Golesti, Izvorani, Stefanestii-Noi, Valea Mare Podgoria, Viisoara, Zavoi.
There are unofficially 574 Roma households, mostly located in Zavoi, Blocuri Streaua ( Stefanesti) and Golesti. Over 90% are not connected to all main utilities, 99% do not have access to gas, 20% do not have access to water in their household or yard, 30% do not have access to electricity.
In Zavoi, 60% of the population does not have property documents. in Blocuri Streaua, there are 6 social buildings in very poor conditions.
ROMACT started in April 2020 with the signature of the Letter of agreement.
The Taskforce for Roma inclusion was created following Mayor's approval in August 2020.
The Municipality benefited of ROMACT expertise for the following projects :
The expertise provided by ROMACT for municipalities involves training and guidance on preparing project proposals and implementing inclusive policies aimed at improving the living conditions and social integration of vulnerable populations, including the Roma.

ROMACT Small Grants Scheme :
ROMACT offers small grants scheme to support the efforts of the municipalities and Community Action Groups to respond together to the needs of the most vulnerable and to multiply the good practices across ROMACT municipalities.
Under the scheme of small grants, the following project was supported by ROMACT between October 2020 - January 2022:
Solidarity during pandemic - Stefanesti Municipality
ROMACT supported the municipality with 4959 € reaching 150 families and 90 pupils with the project of “Solidarity during pandemic with Zavoi Community” in Zavoi, Stefanesti. The project covered information campaign on COVID19 and provided masks, disinfectant products, informative flyers for the vulnerable families in the community. Families received counselling on the importance of school attendance of children. Additionally, school-start kits for 90+ pupils were procured to encourage school attendance.
We learn and play safely – Stefanesti Municipality
ROMACT supported the municipality with 5000 € for the establishment of a playground in Constantin Brâncoveanu school in Stefanesti. The playground created a safe space for around 370 children where they can play and develop interactive skills in a common and safe place that is inclusive of all. The park also provided a green space where children can actively participate in gardening activities.
