Located in Suceava County, in the northern part of Romania, Dolhasca was declared a town in 2004. It administers seven villages: Budeni, Gulia, Poiana, Poienari, Probota, Siliștea Nouă and Valea Poienei.
Despite its name, the town remains a very rural area with agriculture being one of the most important elements of the local economy.
The unofficial number of Roma living in town is about 2 000. Most of them are living in Gulia.
ROMACT process started in November 2018 with the signature of the Letter of Agreement.
Several training were provided:
Local Authorities representatives were trained/coached on :
* Project management
* Expert for accessing structural & cohesion funds
* Applying for funds under on EAA and Norwegian Grants
The following measures to solve problems in vulnerable Roma communities were taken:
*Recruitement of a Local Expert for Roma issues (salary/year)
*Gravell of streets from the Roma community
*Rehabilitation and modernization of the Roma quarter Gymnasia School
ROMACT Small Grants Scheme
ROMACT offers small grants scheme to support the efforts of the municipalities and Community Action Groups to respond together to the needs of the most vulnerable and to multiply the good practices across ROMACT municipalities.
Under the scheme of small grants, the following project was supported by ROMACT between April-September 2020:
We ACT today! – Dolhasca Municipality
ROMACT supported the municipality with 5190 € reaching 250 families with the project of “We ACT today”. The project covered information campaign on COVID19 and provided masks, disinfectant products, informative flyers for the vulnerable families in the community. Additionally, the grantee contributed with food packages for the vulnerable families with dire financial status.
