Dorohoi is a municipality located in northeastern Romania, in Botoșani County, Moldova. It consists in Dealu Mare, Dorohoi, Loturi Enescu and Progresul entities.
The estimated number of Roma citizens is approximately 1600. Most of them are living in a neighborhood called Drochia and are faced with multiple issues including lack of education, health problems, lack of identity documents, lack of housing, unemployment.
ROMACT Process started in January 2021 with the signature of the Letter of Agreement.
In October 2022, the Joint Action Plan for Roma Inclusion was adopted by the Local Council.
The Municipality benefited of ROMACT expertise for the following project:
*Increasing inclusion and developing the premises for a better quality of life of Roma community, FRDS, Enhancing Roma Inclusion and Empowerment
Budget: 456 384 euros
Status: under evaluation
Local Authorities representatives were trained/coached on:
* Public procurement (certified training)
* Project management (certified training)
* Overcoming challenges in using MySMIS platform ( platform for potential beneficiaries of the EU funds)
ROMACT Small Grants Scheme
ROMACT offers small grants scheme to support the efforts of the municipalities and Community Action Groups to respond together to the needs of the most vulnerable and to multiply the good practices across ROMACT municipalities.
Under the scheme of small grants, the following project was supported by ROMACT between October 2021 - February 2022:
Arrangement of a playground – Municipality of Dorohoi
ROMACT supported the municipality with 4985€ for the rearrangement of a playground in the Drochia neighbourhood of Dorohoi. The project increased the area of green space in the neighbourhood and created a nice and safe recreation area that is inclusive of all, especially children.
