Răcari is a town located in Dâmbovița County, in the eastern part of Romania.
It administers seven villages: Bălănești, Colacu, Ghergani, Ghimpați, Mavrodin, Săbiești and Stănești.

Only 1% of the total roma population have an income; 222 persons receive social benefits. 10% of the houses are not connected to utilities.

The ROMACT Process

ROMACT Process started in February 2021 with the signature of the Letter of Agreement.

The Taskforce for Roma inclusion was created following Local Council's approval in December 2021. 

The Joint Action Plan for Roma inclusion was  adopted by the Local Council in August 2022.

The Municipality benefited of ROMACT expertise for the following projects :
The expertise provided by ROMACT for municipalities involves training and guidance on preparing project proposals and implementing inclusive policies aimed at improving the living conditions and social integration of vulnerable populations, including the Roma.

RESTART: Racari - Education, Sports and Art Therapy - Funded by the National School Abandonment Reduction Program.

ROMACT Small Grants Scheme : 
ROMACT offers small grants scheme to support the efforts of the municipalities and Community Action Groups to respond together to the needs of the most vulnerable and to multiply the good practices across ROMACT municipalities.
 
Under the scheme of small grants, the following projects were supported by ROMACT between October 2021 – January 2022:

For a healthy life – Racari Municipality
ROMACT supported the municipality with 4564 € and reached 250+ students from Racari. The project contributed to create a proper sanitary environment through the procurement of hygiene products for each pupil. Students also had meetings with a dentist to learn about the importance of dental health and proper care and cleaning technics. The project increased the awareness of students on the importance of personal hygiene to maintain a healthy life.

Ion Ghica Theoretical High School - Racari
ROMACT supported the school with 4510 €, reaching 396 pupils who are from vulnerable families with poor financial status. The project increased the pupils’ school attendance with higher level of self-esteem through the procurement of school supplies for each pupil. Students also attended information campaigns on the rights of children and importance of education to reduce school absenteeism.
