Odorheiu Secuiesc is located in Western Romania, in Harghita County. The majority of the population in this county speaks Hungarian.
2011 national census showed that 509 people are considered as Roma. However, a more recent survey idenfitied about 2 000-2500 Roma inhabitants.
There are two main Roma ethnic groups in Odorheiu Secuiesc, the Gabor and the Hungarian Roma. They live in different areas including Budvar neighborhood, Recoltei Street and Văii Street and Corbu Street.
The education level is very low and there are important housing issues in all the communities: houses are overpopulated, not connected to water and sewage.
ROMACT Process started in April 2021 with the signature of the Letter of Agreement.
The Taskforce for Roma inclusion was created and the Joint Action Plan for Roma inclusion was adopted by the Local Council in November 2022.
