Budila

Budila is a municipality located in Brașov County. It is composed of a single village, Budila.
According to National census 2011, only 255 inhabitants are Roma. However, the Social Department of Budila states that 80% of the population is Roma, while 1 721 inhabitants are at risk of poverty.
The ROMACT Process
ROMACT Process started in January 2021 with the signature of the Letter of Agreement.
The Taskforce for Roma inclusion was created following Local Council's decision in September 2021.
Local Authorities representatives were trained/coached on:
* Social assistance
* Small grants application and implementation
* Human trafficking awareness
* Project management (certified training)
ROMACT Small Grants Scheme
ROMACT offers small grants scheme to support the efforts of the municipalities and Community Action Groups to respond together to the needs of the most vulnerable and to multiply the good practices across ROMACT municipalities.
Under the scheme of small grants, the following project was supported by ROMACT between October 2021 - April 2022:
School my future! – Budila Municipality
ROMACT supported the municipality with 3224 €, reaching around 895 children in Budila. The project facilitated their access to formal and non-formal education activities that are designed for intellectual, moral and physical development of children in early education. Activities involved the participation of parents and teachers as well which contributed to building trust between parents and teachers for a continuous cooperation in fighting against the school absenteeism in later years. Parents and teachers also attended seminars on the importance of education and social inclusion. Procurement of playground equipment and benches created a safe recreation area for children. They also participated in planting trees and flowers around the playground which increased environmental awareness and responsibility to protect and grow their plants.
