Targu Bujor is a town located in Galati County, in the Eastern part of Romania. It is composed of Targu Bujor, Moscu and Umbraresti.
The unofficial number of Roma is about 750, divided in 4 communities, traditional and "Vatrasi".
Traditional Roma are engaged in pendular migration.
There are issues related to school dropout, there are early marriages, and small conflicts with majority or law enforcement forces.
Since the start of COVID19 pandemic, an important number of persons returned to Romania. These inhabitants are faced with lack or limited access infrastructure and utilities, lack of registration with a family doctor, difficult access to school due to missing school documents from abroad.
ROMACT started in March 2020 with the signature of the Letter of agreement.
In July 2021, the Local Council adopted the Local Development Strategy and the Joint Action Plan for Roma Inclusion as appendix.
The Taskforce for Roma inclusion was created following Local Council's decision in November 2021.
The Municipality benefited of ROMACT expertise for the following projects :
The expertise provided by ROMACT for municipalities involves training and guidance on preparing project proposals and implementing inclusive policies aimed at improving the living conditions and social integration of vulnerable populations, including the Roma.

ROMACT Small Grants Scheme :
ROMACT offers small grants scheme to support the efforts of the municipalities and Community Action Groups to respond together to the needs of the most vulnerable and to multiply the good practices across ROMACT municipalities.
Under the scheme of small grants, the following project was supported by ROMACT between September - November 2020:
Initiative to counter COVID19 pandemic – Targu Bujor Municipality
ROMACT supported the municipality with 4931 € reaching 350 families with the project of “Initiative to counter COVID19 pandemic”. The project covered information campaign on COVID19 and provided masks, disinfectant products, informative flyers for the vulnerable families in the community. Telephone consultancy and specialized assistance were also offered to people who are at high risk of health due to COVID19.
