Făurei is a town located in Brăila County, Romania.
Approximately 550 Roma are living in Făurei in a compact community. The Roma community is a traditional one that speaks Turkish.
Most community households are connected to water and sewage system.
The main problems are related to the large number of illiterates among the adult population; the large number of adults with incomplete education, the high school dropout rate among Roma students and the consequences on access to employment, as well as the lack of regular jobs/income. Other issues that can be mentioned are early marriages in this traditional community and a high percentage of families without decent housing.
ROMACT process started in April 2023 with the signature of the Letter of Agreement.
