Facts

The population of Roma origin living in Romania is estimated at 1.85 million. (Council of Europe, 2010). 74% of them are at risk of poverty compared to 26% of non Roma (UNDP, 2011).

In Romania, 10 municipalities participated in the ROMACT Programme since the end of 2013: Aiud, Bucharest (Sector 6),  Buzau, Botosani, Calarasi, Cumpana, Targu-Jiu, Timisoara, Toflea and Valea Seaca.
In 2015 and 2016, 18 municipalities joined the programme: Ajdud, Alesd, Barcea, Calvini, Ghidigeni, Ivesti, Liesti, Medgidia, Ramnicelu, Ramnicu Sarat, Resita,  Sighisoara,  Slobozia Bradului, Sutesti, Tarnaveni, Turda, Vernesti and Viziru.
In May 2016, ROMACT cycle was successfully closed in all the municipalities that joined the programme in 2013.
