Călinești is a municipality located in Argeș County, a hundred kilometers away from Bucharest.
It is composed of twelve villages: Călinești, Ciocănești, Cârstieni, Glodu, Gorganu, Radu Negru, Râncăciov, Udeni-Zăvoi, Urlucea, Valea Corbului, Văleni-Podgoria and Vrănești.

20% of the population is at risk of poverty.

According to municipality estimates, 1 250 Roma are living in Călinești, mainly in Valea Corbului.

The main challenges of this Rudari Roma community  are the lack of housing documents, the absence of sewage system, a limited access to electricity,  but also the low level of school attendance, unemployment, an important migration rate with children left behind and early marriages.
