The population of Roma origin living in Bulgaria is estimated at 750,000 (Council of Europe, 2010). 81% of them are at risk of poverty compared to 40% of non Roma (UNDP, 2011).
In Bulgaria, 6 municipalities participate in the ROMACT Programme since the end of 2013: Byala Slatina, Maglizh, Shumen, Sliven, Tundja and Varna.
In 2015, 8 municipalities joined the Programme: Aytos, Isperich, Nickola Kozlevo, Novi Pazar, Peshtera, Sredets, Tvarditsa and Vetovo.
In 2016, ROMACT cycle was successfully closed in Byala Slatina, Maglizh, Shumen, Sliven and Tundja and interrupted in Varna.
