Civil servants from South Eastern Romanian ROMACT participated in Public Procurement training from March 24-26 in Buzau, Romania.
The training focused initially on strategic, legal and institutional considerations and then allowed the opportunity for participants to work on more practical, real-life cases where they were tasked to address issues and come up with solutions.

A series of Community Action Group (CAG) trainings has started in North Western Romanian ROMACT municipalities. Community empowerment and mobilisation are the main focus of these workshops which started in Tarnaveni on 7th March. Efforts of the ROMACT municipalities of Kolackov, Lomnicka, Stropkov and Vrbnica to improve the life of its citizen, including its Roma Communities, using an integrated approach were rewarded this year.

On the 25th September 2012, the Mayor of Maglizh took decisive action to demolish 34 illegal shanty houses. The Mayor’s justification for the demolition of the homes was that they were built without any regard for municipal regulations and, therefore, put the lives and health of the residents at risk. The demolition seemingly failed to recognise that the building were the only homes of nearly 200 Roma, half of that number were children.
