Laura Catarig, Head of Iernut municipality’s Development Office in Romania, details how the ROMACT Programme supported them to improve the housing conditions in the community. With the guidance of ROMACT experts and the financial support of the Ministry of Development, the municipality received resources amounting to 2 million euros. This enabled the construction of 72 apartments to host vulnerable families in the locality.
Furthermore, the municipality will use the ROMACT Guide on Social Housing awarding criteria for local authorities, so that these homes are allocated to vulnerable, marginalized families. The ROMACT experts have been supporting the municipality in this process with expertise provision whenever needed, also outside the ROMACT process that was implemented at local level throughout 2017 - 2018.
