In the framework of the joint EU/CoE ROMACT Programme a Launch Event took place in Prague, Czech Republic on 9 September 2016. The launching event was organized jointly by the Council of Europe and the European Commission in cooperation with the National Support Team of the ROMACT Programme in the Czech Republic.
The objective of the launch event was to explain how the ROMACT programme helps building the capacity of local authorities to develop and implement policies and public services that are inclusive of all, including Roma. This opportunity was used to discuss what leads local authorities and Roma communities to engage into the ROMACT programme and what implementing the ROMACT programme concretely means.
The event was attended by: Emmanuelle Grange, Head of Disability & Inclusion Unit, DG Employment, Social Affairs & Inclusion, European Commission; Valeriu Nicolae, Special representative of the Secretary General for Roma issues Council of Europe; Martin Martinek, head of the Inter-ministerial Commission for Roma Community Affairs of the Czech Republic; Markéta Dvořáková, Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic (SMO ČR); representatives of the European Commission, the Council of Europe, Local authorities and Roma Communities as well as of the national team of the ROMACT Programme in the Czech Republic; 44 participants in total.
