Call for tenders for ROMACT National Project Officers in Bulgaria and Romania - Deadline- 27 February 2018

The National Project Officer will undertake a coordination function , act as a conduit between national, regional and local authorities, National Facilitators’ Coordinator, Facilitators and Roma communities and will work to ensure effective cooperation between these different stakeholders.

Isperih Municipality Results! Monthly Fees have been cancelled for Nurseries and Kindergartens

The Isperih municipality has been participating in the ROMACT programme since 2015 and one of the first actions was to form a patrnership which includes the ROMACT programme team, the municipality administration and the Community Action Group (CAG).  This partnership team was established to ensure that the voice of the Roma community is included in the municipality policy process and it is already yeilding positive results.
 
During an additional Isperih Municipal Council session on the 28 December 2017, the council considered the Mayor’s direction to discuss the matter of nursery and kindergarten accessibility. The meeting resulted in a unanimous vote to end monthly fees for nursery and kindergarten services to children in the municipality.

Positive dialogue and taking responsibility in Bratsigovo, Bulgaria

Cleaning campaign in Bratsigovo

During the past months, the town witnessed some tensions between the Roma and the non-Roma that led to a point in which a petition was sent to the municipality demanding the removal of some illegal Roma houses. As a result of the dialogue and community actions, the Bulgarian residents in the neighborhood retracted their petition from the municipality.

ROMACT achievements in a Snapshot

Since October 2013 until July 2017, ROMACT has been implemented in 123 municipalities, generating over 25 000000 € through inclusive projects for approx. 65 000 beneficiaries, with an average investment of 25 000 € per municipality per year.

INSCHOOL – New project of the European Commission and Council of Europe on inclusive education for Roma children

The European Commission and Council of Europe are initiating a new joint project on “Inclusive schools: making a difference for Roma children” targeting schools where Roma children learn, in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovak Republic and United Kingdom.
 

Using Economic Activities to Solve Social Challenges in Roma Communities

The ROMACT team in Slovakia organised a unique National Training Workshop on Social Entrepreneurship. The 3-day training was attended by 17 municipal representatives from a variety of regions and community action groups from 6 ROMACT participant municipalities . The training focused on core ideas to support the added value of social enterprises for local administrations, regional administrations, and municipal residents.

ROMACT TCC call for proposal for grants for Module C (support for working visits)- Deadline 15 September

This call aims to co-fund working visits as part of the ROMACT Transnational Cooperation and Capacity Building Component, which aims at assisting local authorities in better integrating marginalised people, in particular non-nationals of Roma ethnicity.

ROMACT call for proposal for grants for support organisations in Bulgaria, Italy, Romania and Slovak Republic- Deadline 15 July 2017

It aims to co-fund national projects aimed at assisting National Support Teams with the implementation of the ROMACT methodology.

Municipalities in Romania are benefiting from the Human Capital 2014-2020 Grants Programme

Sighisoara, Marasesti, Tarnaveni and Vulcan have recently been notified that they were successful in their bids under the European Social Fund’s Human Capital Grants.
