7th CAHROM Meeting, 14 to 16 May 2014, Strasbourg

On 14 May 2014 the 7th Meeting of the Ad-Hoc Committee of Experts on Roma Issues (CAHROM) will start in Strasbourg, where over 80 national experts and representatives of different CoE bodies, EU Institutions and International Organisations confirmed attendance.
The highlights of these three-day meeting will concern recent developments at international level, Roma women, including early marriages, Roma youth, Roma children and education , and migration, among others. Discussions on the latest thematic  CAHROM visits to Serbia on legalisation of Roma informal settlements, social housing and alternatives to forced evictions (with Serbia as a requesting country and Slovak Republic and Spain as partner countries) and to Italy on solving the legal status of Roma and their lack of ID documents (with partner countries from ex-Yugoslavia) will be held during the meeting.
The ROMACT and ROMED2 Programmes are on the agenda of the programme, on 14th May 2014, under the chapter on joint co-operation and synergies between the EU and the Council of Europe. EU and CoE representatives will be presenting the latest developments, while the National Project Officer in Romania will be providing feedback from the field on the state of implementation of the two Programmes.
A side event will take place on the 16th May 2014 concerning the Dosta! Campaign, taking stock on what has been achieved so far and could be planned for the future.
