Using Economic Activities to Solve Social Challenges in Roma Communities

Activities to develop employment and employability at local levels are a relatively unknown and underused approach. Methods to improve employability and employment opportunities are generally initiated on the national level and they lack the ability to respond to the specific needs that local municipalities and their citizens face.

ROMACT call for proposal for grants for support organisations in Bulgaria, Italy, Romania and Slovak Republic- Deadline 15 July 2017

Within the framework of the Joint European Commission and Council of Europe ROMACT Project, the Council of Europe is launching a call for proposals for grants.
It aims to co-fund national projects aimed at assisting National Support Teams with the implementation of the ROMACT methodology in the countries below.
The deadline for that call is 15 July 2017.

Building roads and trust in ROMACT municipalities in the Slovak Republic.

Efforts of the ROMACT municipalities of Kolackov, Lomnicka, Stropkov and Vrbnica to improve the life of its citizen, including its Roma Communities, using an integrated approach were rewarded this year.
 
The four villages whose major part of the population are Roma joined ROMACT in 2016 and have demonstrated the deep will of all stakeholders to cooperate to bring positive change for the Roma and the municipality at large.
 

Call for tenders for ROMACT National Project Officers in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Romania and the Slovak Republic- Deadline- 08 January 2017

In the framework of the Joint European Commission and Council of Europe ROMACT Project, the Council of Europe is organising a call for tenders for National Project Officers in Bulgaria (1), Czech Republic (1), Hungary(1), Italy (1), Romania (2) and the Slovak Republic (1).
The National Project Officer will undertake a coordination function in relation to the implementation of the ROMACT project and will act as a conduit between national, regional and local authorities on one hand, and the National Focal Point, Facilitators and Roma communities on the other hand, and will work to ensure effective cooperation between these different stakeholders.

New ROMACT Support Team trained in Slovakia

Between 4 – 5 October 2016, the ROMACT team in Slovakia – facilitators and the National Project Officer  – as well as municipal representatives from newly selected municipalities are following a coaching session in preparation of the implementation of the Programme.

Call for Expression of Interest - ROMACT Facilitators- deadline 11 December 2015

The Council of Europe is establishing a pool of Facilitators to work with public administration services in the municipalities included in the ROMACT Programme - political will and understanding of Roma inclusion at local and regional level in the following Member States: BULGARIA, CZECH REPUBLIC, HUNGARY, ITALY, ROMANIA and SLOVAK REPUBLIC.

Call for Expression of Interest - ROMACT Experts - deadline 11 December 2015

The Council of Europe is establishing a pool of experts in local governance and access to EU funding to work within the National Support Teams of the ROMACT Programme in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Romania and Slovak Republic.
